  Be prepared to be treated like a commodity. The vets here have little tact in diagnosing and delivering difficult prognoses. I brought my cat in years ago with kidney failure and the staff was cold. Six years later, I had to rely on them again when my beagle was lethargic. The vet X-rayed him, drained his chest of fluids, summarily diagnosed him with a UTI, gave me antibiotics, then sent him home. Later they ran some more x-rays, said he had a failing heart and prescribed him multiple drugs to take daily, telling me he had 6 months to a year to live. Then they wanted to x-ray him AGAIN, determined he had a growth on his heart, rendering the antibiotics and heart meds pointless, and gave him days to live. Even after all that (and $2000 later), the vet advised I spend a few more hundred dollars so that he could send away his labs to determine if the growth was malignant or not. I'm not a vet, but I asked him to break down the two possible outcomes, malignant or benign. Malignant, it would continue to grow and he would die in days. Benign, and it would remain the size it was, inoperable, and he would die in days. Illogical and not compassionate. If you have other options, go elsewhere for your four-legged friends' healthcare.
